The cinematography of the film is in two media: 16 mm fine-grained stock and Super-8 film. The Super-8 has an old-fashioned and dream-like quality, evoking the feel of memory and diary. The Director of Photography, Wolfgang Held, lends the images, locations and light a special sensuality.

Archival footage in the film, which was obtained from the National Archives and NASA, adds another level of meaning to BLIND LIGHT. I researched historical footage of solar eclipses as a metaphor for Munthe's blindness and his inability to perceive his own inner light. The shots of the Earth in motion from NASA are used in a poetic way to express the epiphany felt by the characters. The NASA images give a feeling of the majesty of the Earth, which dwarfs us, yet gives us life and power.
